Joining Social Media Sites

The process of joining social media sites is much the same whichever site you join. You find the link that says join or sign up, enter into the boxes an email address, and sometimes choose a username and password.

The username can be almost anything but be aware that if the site uses a username, this is what displays and sometimes this is what is in your URL. So choose something that won't embarass you and that is something you don't mind being referred to as!

You will usually then be sent an email to the address you entered. There will probably be a link in that email that you must click on. This confirms that it was you who entered the email in the form and that the email is valid because you received the email in order to click the link in it.

Once confirmed click to the login boxes and enter the email or username and password to enter the site.

It's not a reason to NOT use Facebook or any other social media site, but it is something that should be considered carefully before deciding WHAT to put in any profile or blog you may create there.
