Exchange Traffic - See other sites so they see yours

Do traffic exchanges work? Will they get you millions of targeted hits? It will get you hits but they will not be targeted at all and as to quantity this is dependent on how you work this system. It depends on the individual exchange but the hits you get will not be from that other 98% of the population that you really want hits from.

Traffic exchanges work ok to build a downline in another traffic exchange. Or if you are giving away something new and different . If your page is simple professional and clearly states what you are offering. And if you are marketing to a new wannabe marketer who is looking for traffic here as well but can be tempted by an offer.

How traffic exchanges work

The method behind these traffic exchanges is simple enough. They list your site and show it to someone in a ratio that varies from site to site but lets say of 1:5. This means you will need to view 5 sites to have someone see your site once.

This is managed via a credit system. The program gives you a surf link where you can look at sites and click next to go on to the next site when you're done. This page counts the quantity of sites you view. You are generally given one credit for each site you view and on the main site you are often offered other ways to increase your credits, such as payment, referring other people - especially those that make a downline system part of the program - and sometimes some code to display advertising on your site. Some sites have a high view to credit ratio and others a low one.

To display your site using the accrued credits, you enter your site's url in your admin area and assign the credits that you want to spend in a day to banner advertising or whatever the specific ad exchange offers. Your site is shown to other surfers as often as this allocation lasts. You may also often be able to use credits to apply to free advertising. Try not to use banners if there is any other form of advertising available as people rarely click on them.

Spend as much time crafting a compulsive to click ad as you can without actually lying. State your purpose so your visitor isn't wasting their time and offer something irrisistable to make them click. Deliver it, a lead is worth the time you spend here, only if it gets signed up so you can contact them with backend offers.

Traffic Exchange Down lines

I can tell you that, while surfing, a 'real site' is a welcome break from traffic exchange sites and MLM marketing. An attractive blog with pictures, or some genuine articles may tempt me to stay and read a while, but seeing the same splash page from different affiliates is a definite trigger to hit the next button. Once you have seen it - you've seen it; then you no longer see it, or want to see it.

Pages with too much information get passed on and pages with too little information get passed on because a surfers prime objective is basically surfing for credits. So my 2 cents is to offer a simple one paragraph squeeze page for a free high value product, then you may be able to recover the investment of time you spend doing this. An autoresponder lead can send your client a link to a more extensive page, not once but as long as the person stays subscribed.

If you have a traffic exchange with a downline, you can generate more credits when people sign up under you, you don't want to stay on the bottom, you want to rise to the top of a small army of traffic surfing referrals. Create a simple, maybe humourous or eye catching page with several links to different exchanges and then you might maximise your chances of offering one that your viewer hasn't seen or joined before.

Niche Traffic Exchanges

If you have a site that is very specific and is not internet marketing, do a search for niche traffic exchanges. If nothing else this may introduce you to related sites with the possibility of exchanging affiliate opportunities for cross promotions and backlinks.

If you do sign up, try to do your surfing and build your downlines first as this will bring you more credits. A simple way to do this is to find your surf link and bookmark it, then open several tabs one for each link and surf as you do other things. Multi task, especially at times, such as, when you are downloading products or watching tutorial videos, which otherwise take up a lot of waiting time.

Design a special landing page or slash page for each of the traffic exchanges that you want people to join under you

Traffic exchanges can introduce you to many sites that you may never come across otherwise and are not just a boring way to earn some limited advertising. They can provide a good learning tool for advertising if you pay attention and analyse the pages you see here. What caught your eye, what annoyed you, what drove you to act? Answer these questions and you know how to display information on your own pages.

Be aware of how other people present their sites and products, make notes of page elements that got your attention or got your reaction and copy and use these ideas for your own sales pages. Create a new page using this kind of information and change your url to display a splash page especially designed for each traffic exchange. Keep changing this landing page until it's working for you.(don't change the url again) Or try one of the traffic services that gives you such a splash page such as traffic tornado.

Lastly remember that 1:100 is an average action ratio for all webpages. Only one person in a hundred will actually do something you ask them to do on your webpage. If the traffic exchange ratio is 1:5, then surfing five hundred sites to get that one person to act, may well be more time than you can afford to commit to this type of advertising system, for a sale or a lead sign up. You will need to get many referrals under you to gain the increasing credits if this is going to work.

Personally, I found traffic exchanges tedious and confusing with very poor results. There are better ways to get traffic. But if you do want to give it a try, I found I love hits to be the most generous of the exchanges especially if you pay a little to increase your credits. I did gain some traffic from this exchange before I gave this system away.
